The programme of inquiry and the subject scope and sequences are components of the curriculum, which when used together define a coherent curriculum
During this session you will be looking at the planner you have brought and analysing it with a rubric.
okay - I was looking at collaborative planning and thinking back to our humorous task with the troublesome teacher and the Egyptians.
ReplyDeleteWe had collaborative planning meetings last week which prompted me to reflect back on this. In our meetings, the biggest problem we had was with one teacher who decided that she 'knew it all' and didn't need 'remedial lessons' in PYP (we had some new teachers join the school). She just kept getting up and leaving - even when we were going through the central ideas in the year planner.
Our PYP Coordinator was so frustrated! But, as he said quietly to me on the side, he was told at his conference in June that he should concentrate on the positive 80% and not the difficult 20%. I guess neither he nor I had expected the 20% to be someone who actually does 'believe' (but not live) the PYP
Yes, our session on the Egyptians still makes me smile. Maggie played her role so well! Working with people is not always easy and can challenge us in many ways. Sometimes it is exactly these challenges that help us grow, recognize our own values and push us into formulating our thoughts precisely.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the feedback and it may help to pass on the audit we gave you on analysing a unit of inquiry as a framework for your meetings.
Greetings from Switzerland,
